Ladies and gentlemen!

PLEASE READ THIS!
My beloved grandfather died of lung cancer because he smoked cigarettes since childhood. He lived to 72 years. I took care of him, because the doctors refused to treat him. I have studied this problem myself, but yet it was too late and the treatment was symptomatic. What is proton therapy for prostate cancer

What is proton therapy for prostate cancer

side effects of proton therapy for prostate cancer
Scientists from two new studies, which were published in January in the international journal "Radiation Oncology", said safely and effectively cure prostate cancer by using proton therapy.

Proton beam therapy for prostate cancer - a method of treatment that is aimed precisely focused use of protic-rays to kill cancer cells. A distinctive feature of proton therapy is that the protonic rays fall on tumor cells and do not affect the surrounding healthy cells, in contrast to conventional radiation therapy. This fact also gives the advantage of proton therapy and before chemotherapy.
The study was conducted on 211 men with high, intermediate and low risk of prostate cancer researchers at the University of Florida in Jacksonville. Treatment was carried out proton therapy, a special form of external beam radiation therapy that uses no x-rays and protons. Scientists after two years of observation conclude that the treatment was effective with minimum side effects.

Proton radiation therapy for prostate cancer significantly improves the quality of life for patients. Furthermore, no recovery period proton therapy is required, and the risk is minimal impotence. In fact, men can lead a normal sex life during the course of proton therapy.

The following study was conducted by researchers from the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and the Group of radiation therapy in Philadelphia as a comparative analysis of the effects of high-dose radiation therapy using a combination of photons and protons with brachytherapy (radioactive implanted nucleus).

196 patients were treated for more than three years, with external beams. The results were compared with results 203 men who were brachytherapy at the same time. The researchers compared the biochemical failure rates, and found that in both groups, it was the same.

Proton therapy is as effective as brachytherapy, so the patient can choose his treatment of prostate cancer.

Proton therapy for prostate cancer locations is different from other popular methods of treating cancer by the following:

  • A more accurate than other methods of radiation therapy, which allows the physician to use the high dose radiation, the radiation beam as it enters the tumor with minimal impact on the surrounding healthy cells
  • A non-invasive, painless, with minimal risk of side effects
  • Perhaps the use of this method of radiation therapy on an outpatient basis, requires no recovery period.
